Launch Your First Campaign

This is where everything comes together. You've got your infrastructure set up, your accounts are warming, and your leads are ready. Now it's time to write a sequence and start reaching out to people.

A campaign in Instantly is a series of emails that get sent over time. You write your intro email, then if someone doesn't reply, a follow-up goes out a few days later, then maybe another one after that. The goal is to stay on someone's radar without being annoying and to give them multiple chances to respond. Most campaigns have three to five emails in the sequence.

You have two ways to build this. The manual way is where you click add email step, write your first email, add variables like first name and company name, then add follow-ups one by one. Variables are placeholders that get replaced with actual data when the email sends, so instead of "hey there" your email says "hey Sarah" automatically.

Then there's the AI way. You open Copilot, plug in your website, and it analyzes what you do. It then comes up with a full playbook for your outreach and builds the entire campaign for you. First email, follow-ups, subject lines, variables, everything. You don't have to write a single word. It even adjusts personalization based on your targeting. Going after SaaS founders? It writes copy that resonates with that audience. Targeting ecommerce brands? It adjusts the messaging.

Before you launch, flip a few settings to optimize things. Turn on "skip hostile prospects" which uses AI to detect negative replies and stops the sequence for those people. There's also "unlikely to reply" which predicts whether someone is likely to engage and skips them early. Both of these save sending volume and keep your accounts healthier.

Send a test email to yourself to check everything looks right, then hit launch. Your first campaign doesn't need to be perfect. The goal is to get it live, see what happens, and iterate. You'll learn more from sending a hundred emails and getting ten replies than from tweaking subject lines for three days.

Alright. This is the moment. We're going to build and send your first campaign. This is what everything has been leading up to. You've got your infrastructure, your accounts are warming, your leads are ready. Now we're going to write a sequence and actually start reaching out to people. Here's how this works.

A campaign, it instantly is a series of emails that get sent over time. You write your first email, which is your, let's call intro. Then if someone doesn't reply, you send a follow-up a few days later. Then maybe another follow-up after that.

The goal is to stay on someone's radar without being annoying and to give them multiple chances to respond. Most campaigns have three to five emails in the sequence. We're going to keep it simple and build a three email sequence today. And here's the best part.

You can either build it manually or you can let Copilot do the entire thing for you. Let me show you both ways. Let's start. You go to the campaigns tab and click create a new campaign.

Give the name, something descriptive, so you remember what it's for. Let's call this one SaaS founders outreach January. The first thing you need to do is select which accounts you want to send from. This is your sending infrastructure.

If you connect at multiple accounts, instantly will rotate between them automatically to spread the volume and keep each account healthy. I recommend selecting all your available accounts, unless you have a specific reason not to. Now you've got two ways to build this, the manual way or the AI way. The manual way is you click add email step, write your first email, add variables like first name and company name, then add follow ups one by one.

Variables are placeholders that get replaced with actual data when the email sends. So instead of saying, hey there, you say, hey, first name, and when the email goes out, it pulls the first name from your lead data and inserts it. You can build it that way if you want full control. Add your first email, write your copy, add a follow-up a few days later.

Add another follow-up after that. It's all manual, but it works. But here's the easier way. You can, for example, go to Copilot, click the Copilot button, and it will take you to a different screen, and this is where the magic happens.

You plug in your website and Copilot will analyze it, understand what you do, and come up with a full playbook for your outreach. Then you just tell it, write me a sequence or build me a campaign, and it does the entire thing for you. First email, follow ups, subject lines, variables, everything. You don't have to write a single word.

It'll even suggest personalization based on your targeting. If you're going after SaaS founders, it'll write copy that resonates with that audience. If you're targeting ecommerce brands, it'll adjust the messaging. Once Copilot writes this sequence, you can review it, tweak it if you want, and then drop it into your campaign.

That's it. Alright. Your sequence is built. Now before you launch this to your whole list, let's flip a few final switches to optimize things.

Under settings, you wanna turn on skip hostile prospects. This uses AI to detect when someone replies with something negative and rude, and it automatically stops the person for that sequence for people who have that option turned on. You're not going to waste emails on someone who already told other people to go away and they're not interested. There's another one called unlikely to reply.

This predicts whether someone is likely to engage based on patterns in the data, what we've seen in previous outreach, and it skips them early. Both of these save you sending volume and most importantly keep your accounts healthier. Now, send a test email to yourself. There's a button for that, and this lets you see what the actual email looks like when it lands.

Check that variables are filling in correctly, make sure links work, all of that. Once you're happy with it, you can optionally run an inbox placement test that tells you where the email is landing. Could be inbox, spam, promotions, as we talked about earlier, It's not required, but it's a nice sanity check if you want that extra confidence. Now here's the thing.

Your first campaign is not going to be perfect, and that's fine. The goal is to get it live, see what happens, and iterate. You'll learn more from sending a hundred emails and getting ten replies than you will from sitting around tweaking subject lines for three days. So hit launch, let it run, and then we'll move on to tracking performance and letting AI manage your replies.
