Connect Instantly to Claude

The Instantly MCP is the bridge that turns a smart writing assistant into an active outbound system. MCP stands for Model Context Protocol — a standard for connecting external tools to Claude so it can take actions in those tools directly from within a conversation. A useful way to think about it: if Claude and Instantly are two separate tools on your desk, the MCP is the cable that connects them.

Once connected, Claude can read data from your Instantly account and write to it. That means pulling live campaign analytics, creating new campaigns, adding email sequences, and eventually syncing results back into your Sales Brain — all without leaving the Claude interface.

Setting up the MCP requires two things: an API key from your Instantly account and the MCP server URL from the Instantly help documentation.

To get your API key, go to your Instantly dashboard, navigate to Settings, then Integrations, and then API Keys. Create a new key, name it something like "Sales Brain," set the scope to All, and copy the key when it's generated. Store it temporarily — you'll need it in the next step.

Next, locate the Instantly MCP server URL from the help article referenced in your Instantly dashboard. Copy that URL address.

In Claude, go to Settings and find the Connectors section. Click Add Custom Connector. Give it a name like "Instantly MCP," paste the server URL, and replace the placeholder in the URL with your actual API key. Click Add.

The connection is now live. You can click Configure on the connector to review what permissions Claude has — read tools, write tools, and delete tools. You can set these to "always allow" for a frictionless experience, or leave them on a prompt-by-prompt basis if you prefer more control over what actions Claude takes in your Instantly account.

To verify the connection is working, go back into your Sales Brain project. Take any email sequence you've already drafted and prompt Claude to create a campaign in Instantly using that sequence. Claude will call the MCP, create the campaign in your Instantly dashboard with the correct settings and sequence steps, and confirm it's done.

From this point forward, the workflow tightens significantly. You can write a campaign concept in Claude, have it draft the sequence, and push it directly into Instantly — all in one conversation. And as those campaigns run and generate performance data, you can pull that data back into Claude to analyze results, identify what's working, and iterate. The Sales Brain gets smarter with every campaign cycle.

Okay. It is time to connect the instantly MCP. Now that may sound intimidating if you've never done anything like that before, maybe you don't even know what a MCP is. So let me give you a metaphor that will hopefully solve that once and for all.

You can think of a MCP as a USB or USB c cable. Now there's Claude and there's Instantly, and you're using both tools. To connect him, you simply plug in the USB cable from Claude into Instantly, and now you're able to just get any data across from both tools while chatting with Claude. That is how simple it is.

That is how simple actually works. In theory, there's obviously a lot more to it. Now what you can then do, and it shows it right here in the help article, you can tell it to show me which campaigns are working, maybe add these five hundred leads to my outreach sequence as you upload a CSV, that type of thing, like pause non performing campaigns.

And this is obviously great with what we're working on here, but you can because you can pull in analytics, historical data from your campaigns into your SalesBrain. You can create new things inside your SalesBrain, so your cloud project, and actually sync that to Instantly and a lot more. So in order to do that, we first have to set up the Instantly MCP. Now how we're going to do that is we're first going to grab our API key from our dashboard, and then we're going to add a link to Cloud, and that's everything.

So here in our dashboard, we wanna go to our settings section, then integrations, and then we click API keys. So as you can see here, the API keys I've already set up, you're going to create a new API key, and you're going to name it sales brain, for example. Under scopes, you select all, and then you hit create. Now I'm not going to create it, but after I create it, after you create it, you will see the actual API key, and you wanna store that, copy that, and just keep that for now.

And then once you have that API key, you go back here, and we scroll down a bit. And then here you can see this is the MCP server URL. We're going to right click and copy that link address, and then it's time to dive into Now in Claude, you go to settings. So you click here, settings, and then you'll find the connector section.

Right? So under settings, connectors, then you can browse connectors or add custom connectors. So here, browse connectors will take you to to the App Store. Let's call that, but we're going to click add custom connector here.

And then let's call it instantly MCP, for example, and then we're going to paste the URL here. And in this section, we obviously want to replace with our API key, so with your API key. So I've done that, and then you click add, and that's everything. Now you have the Instantly MCP enabled here.

You can click configure. You can have some a bit of preview here. You can look at the read and write delete tools. What you can do is you can say always allow.

And otherwise, whenever you start performing an action, it's the first time Cloud will ask you, hey. Listen. You know, can I do that? Can I not do that?

So now we have the instantly MCP connected. We have the USB cable plugged in, and let me show you what you can actually do with that. So we'll go back to our SalesBrain, and here is the cold email sequence that we wrote earlier. And I can just say create this campaign in instantly and add the sequences.

We'll add the leads later. I'm just saying that because I also have lead finding tools enabled. I just don't want it to start actually finding leads and spending credits. So I'm just gonna say create this campaign instantly and add the sequence.

And there we go. The campaign is live instantly. Create the campaign with the sequence, with different settings. Now these settings, you can obviously tell to change it, adjust it however you want, and same for the sending accounts, the sender accounts.

You can tell it use these accounts or use the accounts with this tag, for example. And as we're here, you can actually see b two b SaaS founders, and it actually added the campaign here, added the sequence in here, and we're good to go. And now the awesome part is that we can now actually start syncing data between the different tools because, again, we're building a sales brain. So now whenever this campaign starts running, we can have Claude learn from what's going on inside the campaign.
